TEC Shop is dedicated to the precept of DOMESTIC ENERGY POWERED VEHICLES. Our national economy and security is seriously impacted by our dependance on other nations for fuels. Those in charge of such matters either can’t see or refuse to recognize the vast sources of energy that lay between our own boarders.

To this end we, the motoring public, are left with interim options regarding alternative power. TEC Shop has decided to stop complaining and start doing something. We have invested heavily in education, experience and facilities in order to support and maintain HYBRID vehicles. Prius is our primary choice for this endeavor. This car represents technology, workmanship and quality controlled manufacturing that is years ahead of all other forms of roadworthy transportation.

Toyota initially set up a separate entity to research, develop and produce Prius cars. The choices they made have proven to be the best yet. This enterprise was recently brought back into the corporate fold and now has gone mainstream in it’s continuation and production. This is why we limit our services to the years listed.

There are THREE important AREAS that require REGULAR MONITORING and SERVICE-

1. 1.Electrical Storage and Distribution.
   

2. 2.Mechanical Motive power to and at the wheels.
   

3. 3.Electrical Generation and Thermal Consistency.
   

Unwarranted concerns and even FEAR have been placed upon the Prius and its batteries, both in their safety and high replacement costs.

TEC Shop can assure Prius owners that neither of these issues are real. We have the ability to keep your car safe and reduce the need for costly battery replacements that are rarely required if they are properly maintained. Further, there is a 12 volt battery that has a very short storage life and becomes inoperative if the car is left unused for extended periods. This “dead battery” can manifest its condition as a failed main battery pack or broken transmission. Always call TEC Shop before committing to potential costly repairs - our support is FREE.

The Motor Generator System that powers the Prius is as close to a PERMANENT FIXTURE as is possible in the Twenty First Century. However, there are a few weak point that can be repaired at our shop without the expense of a complete “NEW TRANSMISSION”.

The weakest link in the Prius System is TEMPERATURE CONTROL in the gasoline generator, the electric power motors (transmission) and the electrical control and distribution systems. There are TWO separate anti-freeze centric cooling systems and no less than FOUR electric water pumps - these need REGULAR SERVICES.

TEC Shop is aware of the above conditions and situations and has the training, experience, tools and safety facilities to economically diagnose, service and repair your Prius for much less expense and down time as other shops - even “The Dealer”.

An IMPROPERLY SERVICED Main Battery Pack. Either this pack was incorrectly re-assembled after regular (unpublished) service that extends the “pack’s” life, or the Charge Control System warnings were ignored.

Either cause was avoidable using due diligence and procedures.

This picture shows the Main Battery Pack with all covers, shields, bracing and controls removed. This is HIGHLY IRREGULAR as the “pack” should be REMOVED for ALL inspections and services. THIS is how the mistakes that might have caused the above picture can occur.

NOT the result of a collision. This happened because the MAIN BATTERY PACK was incorrectly installed or serviced. OR a dash warning was ignored allowing the Power Distribution or GENERATION systems to fail. Avoidable with proper care.
