86 - 91 Vanagons are WATER COOLED (rectangular Head Lites) 2.1L Engine - common Digifant EFI
97 - 02 Eurovans ONLY. Early Euros have 5 Cylinders,
later use VR6 engined Automatics.
Volkswagen made TWO VAN versions - VANAGON and EUROVAN. VW also had CAMPERS made for each of the Van types. The Vanagon campers were made by Westfalia - Eurovans by Winnebago (WESTY and WINNIE). Each also sported a Weekender or MV version (a camper without a galley).
Early versions of each VAN type had issues, quirks that TEC Shop can deal with. TEC Shop does recommend the 2.1 Vanagon and the VR6 Eurovans.
1st of only 2 body styles for VW Convertibles (which are usually an IMPULSE purchase).
2nd, newer body bears the title CABRIO and not CABRIOLET or convertible! Gas engines vary.
Passat is a car all to itself. Sharing parts with Golfs and Jettas, it was the first station wagon model.
The New Beetle is a stroke of genius. A Golf with a classic look and 2.0L, 1.8t or TDI engines.
Volkswagen has made a number of variant models in their “water cooled” line up. Most are body variations of the Golf - Jetta Chassis. Convertibles came in just 2 body styles (Cabriolet, then the newer CABRIO). The New Beetle is “just” a Golf with a Classic Bug look. A fine car with 2.0L, 1.8t and TDI engine options it has had a number of subtle improvements in it’s run. Passat is a car made of unique body parts and shared mechanicals form Jettas.
A1 Jettas (Rabbit with a trunk) came in 2 and 4 door bodies. 1.8L CIS engines 5 speed or Automatic.
A2 Jetta 4 doors 1.8L engines had CISe, then Digifant Injection. All came as 5 speed or Automatics.
A3 Jettas are all 4 doors with 2.0L engines or VR6 in GLX( Bosch Injection) in stick or Auto trans.
A4 Jettas have a newer 2.0L engine,TDI or VR6 in 4 door bodies. A station wagon is also available.
Jetta started as the A1 version (Rabbit with a trunk). The A2 cars had mechanical improvements and 3 different engines with 3 different Fuel Injection systems. A3 used a 2 liter engine and Bosch Fuel Injection with a VR6 as an option in the GLX. This was a Great series for VW from 1993 - 98. The A4 was the last of this line from mid 1998 to 2006. The new TDI Diesel engines were available in all A4s as well as the optional 1.8t and VR6 engines.
A1 Rabbits and Pick Up Trucks came in CIS (stick or Auto). NO early Diesel repairs - TDI only.
A2 Golfs were CISe then Digifant Injection. 2 Door, 4 Door, Stick or Auto. NO 16 valve repairs.
A3 Golfs are all 2.0L with Bosch Injection (stick or Auto trans). GTI’s are 2.0L, 1.8t or VR6 powered.
A4 Golfs have a newer 2.0L engine, in 4 door and 2 door bodies. A4 GTIs have a 1.8t or VR6 engine.
Water cooled “A” Series VWs. The Rabbit started it with the A1 version. The A2 GOLFs had mechanical improvements and 3 different engines with 3 different Fuel Injection systems. A3 used a 2 liter engine and Bosch Fuel Injection with a VR6 as an option. This was a Great series for VW from 1993 - 98. The A4 was the last of this line from mid 1998 to 2006.
